good
基础 great● · nice● · lovely● · fine● · pretty good ●
基础 amazing ● · fantastic ● · wonderful ● · excellent ● · awesome ◐ · terrific ◐
进阶 well worth it ● · really worthwhile ◐ · a great experience ● · a real plus ◐
高分 top-notch ○ (质量顶级)· second to none ○ · first-rate ○
进阶 ideal ● · spot-on ◐ (正合适)· couldn't be better ◐
"I thought it'd be really worthwhile — one of the best things I did."
"The place was so amazing that people are almost lost for words."
terrific/phenomenal/tremendous 这几个其实很常用。
nice
高分 a real people person ○ (很会和人相处)
进阶 relaxing ● · well looked after ◐ (维护得好)
基础 lovely ● (a lovely day)· pleasant ◐ · mild ◐ (温和)
"My neighbour is really down-to-earth — easy to talk to and never makes a fuss."
cool / amazing / awesome
进阶 impressive ● · incredible ◐ · remarkable ◐ · it really stood out ◐
高分 mind-blowing ○ (震撼)· out of this world ○
"We went past some incredible rock formations — they really stood out ."
⚠️ 问题只在“一段全是 cool”,换着说就行;mind-blowing / out of this world 别拿来形容普通的事。
beautiful
高分 breathtaking ◐ · it takes your breath away ○
"From the top there were stunning views of the surrounding countryside."
interesting
进阶 it really got me thinking ● · I got really into it ◐
高分 right up my street ○ (正合胃口,英式)
"The documentary was genuinely eye-opening — it really got me thinking about waste."
engaging/fascinating 很常用,intriguing 稍书面但也常见;right up my street 很地道,全场用一次就够。
delicious / tasty
基础 tasty● · really good● · yummy◐ (偏随意)
进阶 full of flavour ● · flavourful ◐ · mouth-watering ◐
高分 melts in your mouth ○ (入口即化)· to die for ○
进阶 it really hits the spot ◐ (正好解馋)
"Her dumplings are mouth-watering — the filling is so juicy it melts in your mouth ."
★ 为什么: delicious 的升级靠“具体口感”——mouth-watering / melts in your mouth 让人脑补画面。
⚠️ finger-licking good 偏广告腔,限轻松/食物话题、配真够格的菜可用;to die for / melts in your mouth 别配普通饭菜。
happy
基础 glad● · pleased● · in a good mood ● · cheerful◐
进阶 it made my day ● · I couldn't stop smiling ◐ · it really cheered me up ◐
高分 over the moon ◐ (乐开了花)· on cloud nine ○
"I was thrilled when I got in — I'd been hoping for it for months."
"We were delighted to be invited — everyone was really pleased."
组③教你说效果(it made my day)最自然。
⚠️ thrilled / over the moon
sad
基础 upset● · unhappy● · down ● (feeling down 很自然)
进阶 it really got me down ◐ (让我很低落)
"I was gutted when the trip got cancelled — I'd been looking forward to it for ages."
组③ got me down 是换角度。
tired
基础 worn out ● · sleepy◐
高分 it took a toll on me ◐ · it really took it out of me ○
"That deadline week was draining — by Friday I was completely worn out ."
★ 为什么: tired 的关键升级是分“人累”还是“事累人”——人是 exhausted/drained,事是 tiring/draining/demanding,这俩最常说反。组③用“事”做主语(it took it out of me)是很地道的换角度。
nervous / worried
进阶 anxious ● · stressed (out) ● · on edge ◐ (紧绷)
高分 a bundle of nerves ○ (紧张得不行)
进阶 nerve-wracking ◐ (事让人紧张)· I lost sleep over it ◐
"The interview was nerve-wracking — I was a bit on edge the whole morning."
on edge / stressed out 是很地道的同义升级。
⚠️ 事是 nerve-wracking、人是 nervous——别说反;a bundle of nerves 很口语,正式场合少用。
angry
进阶 frustrated ● (受挫)· fed up (with) ● (受够了)· furious ◐ (很愤怒)
进阶 it drove me crazy ● (最常用)· it really got on my nerves ◐ (惹毛我)
高分 it wound me up ◐ (英式)· it drove me up the wall ○ (更生动、较少用)
"I was so frustrated at times, especially with all the delays."
"The constant noise drove me crazy ."
组③把最常用的 it drove me crazy 放在首位;drove me up the wall 更生动但实际较少用。
bad
基础 terrible● · awful● · poor● · not great ● · not very good ●
进阶 not what I'd hoped for ● · far from ideal ◐ (远不理想)· it wasn't up to scratch ◐ (没达标,英式)
高分 nothing to write home about ○ (不咋样)
"The service was really disappointing — we waited 40 minutes and no one even apologised."
★ 为什么: bad 和 good 一样笼统,最好的升级是组③“说具体哪里不好”(far from ideal / not up to scratch),而不是堆更强的形容词。 terrible/awful 是同强度的口语平替,换着用。
⚠️ not up to par / not up to scratch
important
基础 really important ● · a big deal ● (口语)· key●
进阶 plays a crucial role (in) ● · a major factor ● · has a real impact (on) ● · matters a lot ●
高分 can't overstate how important …
"Sleep plays a crucial role in how I focus — it really matters a lot for my mood too."
★ 为什么: important 的真正升级不是换个更强的形容词,而是换整块搭配——plays a crucial role / has a real impact 比单个 crucial 更有分量。crucial/vital 单替也行,但搭配更稳。
⚠️ 口头禅 very very important 建议精简;强词前别加 very(very crucial ❌,本身已经很强);can't overstate 偏书面,全场用一次就够。
difficult / hard
基础 tough● · tricky● · not easy ●
进阶 it took a lot out of me ◐ (很耗我)· a real struggle ◐
高分 easier said than done ◐ (说易做难)· an uphill battle ○ (艰难硬仗)
"Learning to drive was more challenging than I expected — definitely easier said than done ."
组③用“事”做主语或习语(easier said than done)很地道。
⚠️ challenging ≠ 痛苦,纯折磨别用;uphill battle / easier said than done 同段一个就够,别一起上。
easy
a piece of cake
I picked it up quickly ● (很快上手)· manageable ◐ (应付得来)· it came naturally (to me) ◐ (自然就会)
高分 a piece of cake ◐ (小菜一碟)· a walk in the park ○
"The setup was pretty straightforward — I picked it up in about ten minutes."
a piece of cake
⚠️ a piece of cake / a walk in the park / as easy as pie
very、a lot、big
very
基础 really● · so● · pretty● · quite● (英式)
进阶 very tired → exhausted ● · very big → huge ● · very good → excellent ● · very cold → freezing ● · very small → tiny ●
基础 far too … ● · overly ◐ · excessively ◐
"After the hike I was absolutely exhausted ." (不是 "very very tired") 自编
⚠️ 强词前别再加 very(very excellent / very huge / very freezing ❌,本身已经最高);absolutely 只配不可分级词(absolutely freezing ✅,absolutely cold ❌)。
a lot / a lot of / many
基础 lots of ● · loads of ● (很地道)· plenty of ● · tons of ◐
进阶 a great deal of ◐ (不可数)· a huge number of ◐ (可数)· quite a few ● (不少)· a fair amount of ◐ (相当多)
基础 a bit ● · slightly ● · somewhat ◐ (有点)· a few ● (不多/几个)
"I've got loads of photos from that trip — probably a couple of hundred ."
a great deal of(不可数)/ a huge number of(可数)更精准,是真正的进阶。loads of / plenty of
⚠️ a great deal of money ✅ / a great deal of people ❌(人用 a number of);tons of 偏随意,正式 P2 少用。
big
进阶 a major impact ● · a significant impact ◐ · big problem → a major issue ●
"Moving to a new city had a massive impact on me — honestly a bit of a game-changer ."
★ 为什么: big 可以分“物理大”(huge/enormous)和“影响大”(a major impact / a game-changer)——影响大别用 huge 形容,要用搭配。
old
基础 worn ● (用旧了)· not new ●
高分 it's seen better days ○ (旧了/不行了)
进阶 in their seventies ● (具体年龄段)· getting on a bit ◐ (上年纪了,口语)
基础 really old ●
"It's a historic building — centuries old and still beautifully kept."
⚠️ 形容人别直接 old;run-down(破旧)≠ antique(值钱的旧);historic(有历史意义)≠ historical(历史上存在的)。
new
"They've just brought in some state-of-the-art equipment — really up-to-date ."
★ 为什么: new 分三路——全新(brand-new)、最新(the latest/up-to-date)、新颖有创意(fresh/novel)。
cheap
基础 low-cost ● · not expensive ● · inexpensive ◐
进阶 affordable ● (负担得起)· reasonable / reasonably priced ● · good value (for money) ● · budget-friendly ◐
高分 a bargain ◐ (超划算)· a steal ○ (捡漏)
"The meal was really good value — proper food at a reasonable price."
a bargain / a steal
expensive
基础 pricey ● (口语)· costs a lot ●
高分 cost an arm and a leg ◐ (贵得离谱)
"Rent there is pretty steep — honestly it costs a fortune for a small place."
costs a fortune / an arm and a leg
⚠️ overpriced 含“不值”判断,单纯贵别乱贴;an arm and a leg 同段一个就够。
convenient
基础 handy ● (口语很自然)· easy to get to ●
进阶 well-connected ● (交通便利)· saves a lot of time ● · within easy reach ◐ (很近)· hassle-free ◐ (省事)
高分 a stone's throw away ○ (一步之遥)
"The flat is really well-connected — the station's just within easy reach ."
comfortable
高分 puts you at ease ◐ · feel right at home ○
"The café is so cosy — comfy seats and it just puts you at ease ."
puts you at ease
⚠️ cosy(温馨小空间)≠ spacious(宽敞)——小空间不能 spacious。
safe
"It's a pretty low-crime area — I always feel safe walking home late."
⚠️ better safe than sorry
popular
基础 well-liked ● · in demand ◐
进阶 widely used ● · a big hit ● (大受欢迎)· catching on ◐ (流行起来)· has a huge following ◐ (粉丝多)
高分 all the rage ○ (风靡一时)· a household name ○ (家喻户晓)
"Short videos are really catching on — they've got a huge following now."
★ 为什么: popular 分静态“受欢迎”(well-liked / a big hit)和动态“正流行起来”(catching on)——方向不同。
⚠️ a household name 专指人/品牌,别说“活动 household name”;all the rage 全场用一次就够。
common
高分 par for the course ○ (习以为常)
"Working from home has become the norm — it's increasingly common these days."
everyday(日常的)/ the norm(常态)是地道升级。
modern
基础 up-to-date ● · new●
高分 forward-thinking ○ · ahead of its time ○ (超前)
"The design is really sleek and contemporary — almost ahead of its time."
ahead of its time
⚠️ contemporary(当代,中性)≠ trendy(时髦,可能短暂),别混;sleek 偏形容外观造型。
busy
进阶 snowed under ◐ (忙不过来)· tied up ◐ (脱不开身)· run off my feet ◐ (忙得团团转)
高分 up to my ears (in …)
"Work's been full-on lately — I'm completely snowed under till Friday."
⚠️ 人忙(snowed under)vs 地方挤(packed/bustling)别串用;up to my ears 全场用一次就够。
fun
fun(好玩)和 funny(好笑 / 奇怪)最容易混。
基础 enjoyable ● · a good laugh ● (英式,很欢乐)
进阶 entertaining ● · I had a blast ◐ (玩得超开心)· a great laugh ◐
高分 a barrel of laughs ○ (特别欢乐)
"The trip was a real blast — we had a good laugh the whole way."
★ 为什么: fun(好玩)和 funny(好笑/奇怪)是两个词,最容易混。升级 fun 用 enjoyable/entertaining/had a blast。
⚠️ funny = 好笑 / 奇怪,fun = 好玩,别混;a barrel of laughs 全场用一次就够。
small / little
基础 tiny● · little● · not big ●
进阶 compact ◐ (小巧实用,褒)· cramped ◐ (空间挤,贬)· modest ◐ (规模不大,a modest flat)· a tiny bit / slightly ● (量少一点)
"It's a fairly compact flat — a bit cramped when guests come, but it suits me."
表示“量少”别用 small,用 a tiny bit / slightly。
⚠️ compact(小而实用,褒)≠ cramped / poky(挤得难受,贬)——夸“小巧”别用 cramped。
hot / warm
"It was scorching yesterday — and the soup came out piping hot , almost too hot to eat."
cold / cool
注意 cool(凉,褒)和 cold(冷,贬)方向相反 。
"It gets bitterly cold in winter — some mornings I'm absolutely freezing at the bus stop."
⚠️ cool(凉爽,褒)≠ cold/freezing(冷,贬);freezing 已是最高,别加 very。
fast / quick
进阶 at a fast pace ● (进展快)· in no time ● (一下子就)· straight away ● (立刻)· at once ◐ (立刻)· quick to react ◐ (反应快)
高分 in the blink of an eye ○ (一眨眼)
"The course moved at a fast pace , but I picked things up in no time ."
组②用搭配区分“进展快(at a fast pace)/ 一会儿就好(in no time)/ 反应快(quick to react)”——比单换一个词更有画面。
⚠️ rapid / speedy 本身就是“很快”,别再加 very;in the blink of an eye 很地道,用一次就够。
slow
基础 not fast ● · take a while ●
高分 at a snail's pace ○ (慢吞吞)· drag on ○ (拖沓很久)
"Progress was gradual at first — honestly it felt like things moved at a snail's pace ."
★ 为什么: slow 要分褒贬——gradual(渐进,中性/褒)vs sluggish(迟缓,贬),别混。snail's pace / drag on
⚠️ gradual(渐进,褒)≠ sluggish(迟缓,贬);snail's pace 偏抱怨,用一次就够。
clean / tidy
"Her place is always spotless — really well-kept , not a thing out of place."
⚠️ clean(无脏)≠ tidy(有条理);spick and span 用一次就够。
dirty / messy
基础 messy● · untidy● · not clean ●
"My desk gets cluttered by Friday — and the kitchen was an absolute mess after cooking."
★ 为什么: dirty/filthy=脏(有污垢)vs messy/cluttered=乱(东西堆放),别混——乱不一定脏。
young
基础 youthful ◐ (显年轻,状态)· not old ●
进阶 in their teens / in their twenties ● (具体年龄段)· in my younger days ◐ (年轻时)· a youngster ◐ (小年轻)
"He's only in his twenties but really mature — and my gran's 80, still young at heart ."
⚠️ youthful(显年轻,褒)≠ young(年纪小);young at heart 用一次就够。
long / short
进阶 drag on ◐ (拖很久)· a fair while ◐ (好一阵)· over in no time ● (一会儿就完)· at short notice ◐ (临时通知)
"The meeting dragged on for hours, but the break was over in no time ."
时间长短用搭配(drag on / over in no time)比单个词更地道。
⚠️ lengthy(略贬)≠ long(中性);brief(褒)≠ short(中性)。
quiet
进阶 calm ● (平静)· tranquil ◐ (静谧,偏褒)· a quiet spot ● · not a sound ◐
高分 peace and quiet ○ (清静)
"I love that café — really peaceful , a quiet spot to read with a bit of peace and quiet ."
⚠️ silent(全无声)≠ quiet(可有轻微声);tranquil 偏书面褒义。
loud / noisy
高分 you can't hear yourself think ○ (吵得没法思考)
"The bar was so rowdy — the music was practically deafening , you couldn't hear yourself think."
⚠️ noisy / rowdy(贬)≠ bustling(中性褒);you can't hear yourself think 用一次就够。
friendly / outgoing
基础 warm● · easy to talk to ●
高分 a real people person ○ (很会和人打交道)
"She's so easy-going and approachable — a real people person."
⚠️ outgoing(外向)≠ friendly(友善),别替错;a real people person 用一次就够。
kind
高分 a heart of gold ○ (心地善良)
"My grandmother is so thoughtful — she's got a real heart of gold ."
⚠️ generous(舍得给)≠ kind(广义善良);a heart of gold 用一次就够。
smart / clever
高分 the brains behind … ○ (…
"He's really sharp — a quick learner and pretty level-headed under pressure."
hard-working
进阶 dedicated ● · committed ● · conscientious ◐ (认真负责)· puts in the hours ◐ · diligent ◐ (勤勉)· self-disciplined ◐ (自律)
高分 goes the extra mile ◐ (额外付出)
"She's so dedicated — always puts in the hours and goes the extra mile for the team."
goes the extra mile
⚠️ “hardest worker in the room” 偏鸡汤口号,口语少用;conscientious 拼写易错,记牢再用。
funny
基础 a laugh ● · good fun ●
进阶 hilarious ● · has a good sense of humour ● · witty ◐ (机智幽默)· quick-witted ◐
高分 a barrel of laughs ○
"My uncle is hilarious — really witty , always has us laughing."
★ 为什么: funny 也能指“奇怪 / 可疑”(“that's funny”常是“奇怪”),想夸幽默最好用 has a good sense of humour / hilarious,避开歧义。
⚠️ funny 有“奇怪 / 可疑”的歧义,夸幽默用 hilarious / sense of humour;a barrel of laughs 用一次就够。
confident
基础 sure of yourself ● · not shy ●
"She comes across as really self-assured — never afraid to speak her mind."
⚠️ assertive(敢表达,正面)≠ aggressive(咄咄逼人,贬);这组自然准确就好,不必硬凑成语。
thing / things / stuff
替换法 things to do → activities / options ● · a good thing → a real benefit / a plus ● · stuff → belongings / equipment / details ●
换前 "There were a lot of things to do." → "There were plenty of activities on offer."
get
替换法 get a job → land / find ● · get better → improve / recover ● · get information → find / look up ● · get tired → become ● · get the bus → catch / take ●
"I finally landed a part-time job, and my English really improved after that."
升级就是“说出具体动作”——got a job 可以说 landed a job。
do / make
do everything、make everything
替换法 do exercise → work out ● · do research → look into ● · make a decision → reach a decision ◐ · make money → earn ● · make food → cook / prepare ● · make sth → create / put together ● (制作)· 想出 → come up with ●
"Before I buy anything big, I tend to look into it properly and weigh up the options."
升级靠专属动词(work out / look into)。注意 make a decision / do homework 这类搭配是固定的、不能互换——先记对再升级。
⚠️ 搭配固定:make a decision / do homework 不能互换,先记对再升级。
people
替换法 具体化:young people / teenagers / locals / commuters / parents / my generation ● · 泛指换 most folks ◐ (口语)/ a lot of us ●
换前 "People like it." → "Most commuters seem to prefer it, especially during rush hour."
want
基础 would like ● · hope to ●
进阶 I'm keen to … ● (很想)· I'd love to … ● · I'm hoping to … ● · I've been meaning to … ◐ (一直想没做)· can't wait to …
高分 I'm itching to …
"I've been meaning to pick up photography for ages — I'm really keen to give it a go."
★ 为什么: want 的升级靠搭配体现语气——keen to(很想)/ been meaning to(一直想做没做成)层次不一样。
⚠️ desire / wish to 偏书面,口语少用;I'm itching to 用一次就够。
"I think …" / 口头禅 like
I think
I'd say ● · I reckon ◐ (英式口语)· To be honest ● · The way I see it ◐ · If you ask me ◐ · I suppose ●
基础 well ● · you know ● · I mean ● · sort of ●
"To be honest , I reckon it depends on the person — I'd say there's no single answer."
(I'd say / to be honest),再用更自然的填充词(well / you know)替掉口头禅 like。
⚠️ like 当口头禅(“it was, like, really…”)
go / say / use / change
go
替换法 go to a restaurant → eat out ● · go to the gym → work out / hit the gym ● · go on holiday → travel / get away ● · go up(价格)→ rise / climb ◐ · go well → turn out well ●
"We try to eat out once a week and get away somewhere every summer."
换专属动词(eat out / get away)更生动。go 在口语里没问题,只是别整段只有 go to。
⚠️ go 口语没错,别整段只有 go to。
say
替换法 say(观点)→ mention ● / point out ◐ / claim ◐ · people say → it's often said ◐ · say(表达感受)→ express ◐
"A lot of people point out that it saves money, and it's often said to be greener too."
引述可以换 mention(顺带提)/ point out(指出)/ claim(声称,带点“未必属实”),按语气挑准。
like(动词:喜欢)
基础 enjoy● · be into ◐ (口语,喜欢/着迷)
进阶 be keen on ◐ · be fond of ◐ · can't get enough of ◐ · a big fan of ● · passionate about ● · big on … ◐ · enthusiastic about ◐
高分 have a soft spot for ○ (特别偏爱)· right up my street ○ (正合胃口)
基础 not a fan of ● · not really into ●
进阶 can't stand ● (很讨厌)· put off by ◐ (被…
"I'm really into photography — I've got a soft spot for old film cameras."
★ 为什么: 动词 like(喜欢)可以升级(be into / keen on);口头禅 like(填充词)要少用——这是两回事,别搞混。
↔ right up my street 也出现在批次1「interesting」卡,互通。
help
基础 give a hand ● · be helpful ●
进阶 come in handy ● (派上用场)· make a (big) difference ● · be a great help ● · go a long way ◐
"Those notes really came in handy — honestly a bit of a lifesaver before the exam."
★ 为什么: help 分两种——“人帮忙”(give a hand,主语是人)和“物 / 技能派上用场”(come in handy,主语是物),这两个最容易说反。
⚠️ come in handy 主语是“物/技能”;人帮忙用 give a hand。
use
进阶 rely on ● (依赖)· take advantage of ◐ (利用好处)· put … to good use ◐ · make the most of ●
高分 get the most out of … ◐
"I try to make the most of my commute — I put that time to good use listening to podcasts."
★ 为什么: use 的升级靠“怎么用”——rely on(依赖)/ make the most of(充分利用)。
change
"Moving abroad really transformed how I see things — it was a real turning point ."
★ 为什么: change 按程度分——make adjustments(小调整)vs transform(彻底变),别用反。
learn
进阶 get the hang of ◐ (掌握窍门)· grasp ◐ (理解掌握)· get to grips with ◐ (弄懂上手)· brush up on ◐ (复习提升)
"It took me a while to get the hang of it — definitely a steep learning curve at first."
get the hang of 是很地道的“掌握窍门”。
spend(time / money)
替换法 时间 → devote time to / set aside time ◐ · 钱 → splash out (on) ◐ (大手笔)/ put money into ◐ / save up ● · "周末怎么过" → I tend to … ●
"I set aside an hour a day for reading, and I splash out on books now and then."
enjoy
基础 love● · have a good time ●
进阶 get a lot out of ● (收获很多)· take pleasure in ◐ · really get into ◐ · savour ◐ (细细享受)
高分 lap it up ○ (尽情享受)
"I really get a lot out of hiking — I savour those quiet mornings on the trail."
★ 为什么: enjoy 的升级靠换角度——get a lot out of(收获多)/ savour(慢慢品味)。
look(看 / 看起来)
替换法 看 → glance at / watch / browse ◐ (随便看)· 看起来 → seem / appear / come across as ● (给人印象)· look for → search for ●
"It might seem complicated, but once you glance at the guide it's straightforward."
know / feel / need / see / come / tell ……
know
替换法 know a fact → be aware (of) / realise ● · know a person → have met / be acquainted ◐ · know a place/skill → be familiar with ● · "我知道了" → I see / I get it ●
"I wasn't aware of that rule — I'm not too familiar with how it all works yet."
be familiar with = 熟悉(事 / 物 / 地),know sb = 认识人,别替错;realise 偏“突然意识到”。
⚠️ be familiar with(熟悉)≠ know sb(认识人);realise 偏“突然意识到”。
feel
I feel ● · I sense ◐
I'd say I'm … ● (具体情绪)· it strikes me as … ◐ (我觉得它…)· come across as ◐ (给人感觉)· I get the feeling (that) … ●
高分 have a gut feeling ○ (直觉)
"I get the feeling it'll work out — it strikes me as a sensible plan."
(I'd say I'm…),说看法用 it strikes me as / I get the feeling。
⚠️ feel + 形容词最自然(I feel tired),别说 I feel happiness(名词),用 I feel happy。
need(≠ want)
基础 have to ● · must●
进阶 it's a must ◐ · I really need to … ● · can't do without ◐ (离不开)· essential ● (必不可少)
高分 a must-have ○ (必备之物)
"A phone is something I really can't do without — for me it's an absolute must ."
can't do without(离不开)是很地道的升级。
⚠️ need = 必须(强),want = 想要(弱);“I need” 比 “I want” 语气更迫切。
see / watch
see、watch、notice 容易混用。
替换法 偶然看见 → spot / notice / come across ● · 专注观看 → watch / keep an eye on ● · 看医生 → see a doctor ● · 看(懂了)→ I see ●
"I noticed a few mistakes, so I'll keep an eye on it from now on."
come
替换法 come to an event → turn up / show up ● (到场)· come true → come about ◐ / happen ● · come to a decision → reach ● · come back → return ● · 价格 come down → drop / fall ●
"Loads of people turned up , and prices have come down a bit since last year."
come 在口语里很自然,只是别整段只有 come to。
⚠️ come 口语很自然,别整段只有 come / come to。
tell
替换法 tell sb sth → let sb know / inform ● · tell a story → share / describe ● · tell the difference → spot the difference ● · 据说 → I'm told (that) … ◐
"Just let me know if anything changes — honestly I can't tell the difference between the two."
注意 tell 后面要接人(tell me),say 后面不接人(say that…)——这俩最容易说反。
⚠️ tell 后面要接人(tell me),say 后面不接人(say that…)——别说反。
try
基础 have a go ● · give it a try ●
进阶 give it a shot ● (试试)· make an effort ● (努力)· attempt ◐ (尝试,偏正式)· have a crack at ◐ (英,试一把)
高分 give it my best shot ◐ (全力一试)
"I'd love to give it a shot — even if it's hard, I'll give it my best shot ."
★ 为什么: try 分“尝试”(give it a shot)和“努力”(make an effort)。注意 try to do = 努力去做 vs try doing = 试着做做看,含义不一样。
⚠️ try to do = 努力去做,try doing = 试着做做看,含义不同别混。
start / finish
替换法 start → get started / kick off / take up ● (开始一项爱好)· finish → wrap up / get … done / finish off ● · 用完 → run out of ●
"I took up running last year, and I try to wrap up work by six most days."
★ 为什么: take up 专指“开始一项爱好 / 活动”(take up running ✅)。wrap up = 收尾完成,run out of = 用完(耗尽)。
⚠️ take up 专指“开始爱好/活动”(take up running ✅);run out of = 用完。
find
替换法 find sth lost → track down / locate ◐ · find out info → find out / look up ● · find(觉得)→ I find it + 形容词 ● · 发现规律 → notice / discover ●
"I find it hard to focus at home, so I looked up a few tips online."
I find it interesting(觉得)≠ find a key(找到东西)——这两个意思别混。
⚠️ I find it interesting(觉得)≠ find a key(找到东西),别混。
keep / stay
基础 stay● · hold on to ◐ (留住)
进阶 keep up ● (跟上/保持)· stick to ● (坚持)· stay on top of ◐ (不落下)· hang on to ◐ (保留)· maintain ◐ (保持,偏正式)
高分 keep at it ○ (坚持不懈)
"I try to stick to a routine and stay on top of my work — you just have to keep at it ."
★ 为什么: keep / stay 分保持(keep up)/ 坚持(stick to)/ 留住(hang on to)。
work
替换法 work(职业)→ have a job / be employed ● · work(机器运转)→ run / function ◐ · work(奏效)→ do the trick / pay off ● · work hard → put in the effort ●
"The new method really did the trick — all that effort finally paid off ."
机器“运转”用 run / function,方法“奏效”用 do the trick,别混。
⚠️ 机器“运转”用 run / function;方法“奏效”用 do the trick,别混。
show
替换法 show sth → display / present ◐ · show(表明)→ suggest ● / indicate ◐ (数据表明)· show sb around → give a tour ◐ · show up → turn up ● (出现)
"The survey suggests people prefer it, and they kindly showed me around the campus."
always / usually / sometimes(频率轮换)
基础 most of the time ● · now and then ●
进阶 高频:tend to ● · more often than not ◐ · nine times out of ten ◐
进阶 偶尔:every so often ◐ · on and off ◐ · once in a while ●
"I tend to cook at home, but every so often we'll eat out — nine times out of ten at the weekend."
⚠️ tend to + 动词原形(I tend to cook),别说 I tend to always cook(语义重复)。
nowadays / these days(现在)
基础 these days ● · right now ● · currently ◐
进阶 at the moment ● · as things stand ◐ · in this day and age ◐ (偏正式但自然)
"These days I barely use cash — at the moment everything's on my phone."
these days / at the moment in this day and age
in the past(过去)
基础 before● · back then ●
进阶 a while back ◐ · years ago ● · in my younger days ◐ · back in the day ◐ (口语,想当年)
"Back in the day I'd write letters; a while back I switched to email, now it's all messaging."
★ 为什么: in the past 用多了单调。back in the day 偏怀旧口吻(想当年),正式一点的场合用 in the past / previously。
⚠️ back in the day 偏怀旧口吻;正式场合用 in the past / previously。
↔ in my younger days 也出现在批次3「young」卡,互通。
in the future(将来)
基础 later on ● · someday●
进阶 going forward ◐ (从今往后)· in the long run ● (长远)· down the line ◐ · sooner or later ● · before long ◐ (不久之后=soon)
"Going forward I'd like to travel more, and in the long run maybe live abroad."
★ 为什么: in the future 分短期 / 长远——going forward(从今往后)vs in the long run(长远来看),跨度不一样,别混。
⚠️ in the long run = 长远来看(强调跨度),going forward = 从今往后,略不同。
and / also(递进、补充)
替换法 on top of that ● (除此之外)· what's more ◐ · plus ● (口语)· not to mention ◐ (更别提)· as well as ● · 列举:to start with / for one thing / lastly ●
再补两类 此外:besides ● · in addition ◐ (另外)· 承接:then ● / after that ● (然后 / 之后)· afterwards ◐ (随后)
"It saves money, and on top of that it's better for the environment — not to mention it's just easier."
on top of that / what's more 能让补充更有层次。
⚠️ 别堆:一段里 on top of that 用一次就够。
but / however(转折)
替换法 口语:though ● (放句尾,很自然)/ mind you ◐ / then again ◐ · 稍正式:that said / having said that ◐ (话虽如此)
"I love the city — it's expensive, though . That said , the opportunities make up for it."
so / because(因果)
替换法 因为:since / as ● / the reason being ◐ · 所以:as a result ◐ / that's why ● / which means ●
"I start early, which means I avoid the rush — that's why I'm rarely stressed in the morning."
which means / that's why 比 so 更有逻辑感、更自然。
⚠️ therefore 偏书面;口语用 that's why / so / which means 更自然。
boring(无聊)
基础 dull● (平淡无趣)· not my thing ● (不合我胃口)
"The talk was pretty dull and a bit repetitive , so it was hard to stay focused."
注意 bored 是“人觉得无聊”(I was bored),boring 是“东西让人无聊”(it was boring),别混。
⚠️ bored(人无聊)≠ boring(东西无聊);别一句里堆 dull + tedious + dry。
ordinary / average(普通、一般)
"The hotel was nothing special — pretty average , just your typical city hotel."
useful / practical(有用、实用)
进阶 valuable ◐ (很有价值)· comes in handy ● (关键时候派上用场)· does the job ◐ (够用、顶事)
"This little app is really handy — it does the job and saves me a lot of time."
★ 为什么: handy 最口语(“趁手、好用”);comes in handy = 关键时候派上用场;does the job = 够用、能顶事。
worth / worthwhile(值得)
想说“值”,别只会 it's good。
进阶 well worth … ● (很值)· worthwhile ◐ (值得做)· it pays off ◐ (努力后有回报、最后值了)
"The trip was a bit pricey, but it was well worth it — all that planning really paid off ."
★ 为什么: worth it 最口语(“值”);well worth 加强语气;it pays off 偏“付出后有回报”。注意 worth 后面接 it / 名词 / doing(worth doing)。
⚠️ worth 用法:worth it / worth doing;it pays off 偏“努力有回报”。
↔ 「good」卡里也有 well worth it(那里当“夸好”用)。
说“一群人”别永远 children / old people。
孩子 kids● · youngsters ◐ · little ones ◐ (小不点)
老人 the elderly ◐ · senior citizens ◐ (长者)· the older generation ◐ · pensioners ○ (英,领养老金的)
成年人 grown-ups ● · working adults ◐ · the middle-aged ◐ (中年人)· people in their 40s ●
"These days, kids and teenagers spend more time online, while a lot of the elderly still prefer face-to-face chats."
说老人用 the elderly / senior citizens 比 old people 更得体;kids 最口语,little ones 更亲切。
friend(朋友 / 交情)
进阶 a close friend ● (好朋友)· an old friend ● (老朋友)· we get on well ● (处得好)
"He's an old mate of mine — we've known each other for years and still get on really well."
★ 为什么: mate(英)/ buddy(美)都是“哥们、好友”,很口语;a close friend / an old friend 说明交情深浅。
improve(提高、改善)
基础 get better ● (变好)· make progress ● (有进步)
"Reading every day really helped me get better at English, and it gave my confidence a real boost ."
⚠️ boost 多接 confidence / the economy / sales;enhance 偏书面。
↔ 「get」卡里也有 get better。
affect / influence(影响)
基础 have an effect on ● · have an impact on ● (有影响)
进阶 shape ◐ (塑造、长远影响)· play a part in ◐ (起了一部分作用)
"The teachers I had really shaped the way I think — they had a big impact on my choices."
★ 为什么: have an impact / effect on 是“影响”最稳的说法;shape 偏“塑造、长远影响”;play a part in = 起了一部分作用。
⚠️ affect(动词,影响,拼 a-)≠ effect(名词,效果,拼 e-):这两个最容易搞混。
↔ 「important」卡里有 has a real impact on(那里偏“重要性”)。
agree / disagree(同意 / 不同意)
I agree / I don't agree——换些说法更自然,不同意时也更委婉。
基础 you're right ●
I'm with you on that ◐ (我同意你这点)· I couldn't agree more ◐ (完全同意)
进阶 I see it differently ◐ (我看法不一样)· I'm not so sure about that ◐ (我不太确定)
"I'm with you on that — but on the cost side, I see it a bit differently ."
I'm with you on that = 口语“我同意你”;I couldn't agree more = 强烈同意;不同意时 I'm not so sure / I see it differently 比直接 I disagree 更委婉、不冲。
it depends(取决于、看情况)
基础 it depends on …
进阶 it varies ◐ (因人 / 因情况而异)· there's no simple answer ◐ (没有简单答案)
"It really depends on the person — there's no simple answer , it varies from case to case."
很地道、给自己留空间;it varies = 因人 / 情况而异;there's no simple answer 适合 P3 那种没有标准答案的问题。
⚠️ depends 后面接 on(it depends on the weather);别说成 “it depends of”。
for example(例如、比如)
举例别永远 for example——换着用更自然,口语里 like / such as 最常见。
基础 for instance ● · such as ● · like ● (口语举例)
进阶 take … for example ◐ (把例子拎出来)· say …
"A lot of hobbies keep you fit — take swimming for example , or something like cycling."
★ 为什么: for instance 和 for example 等价、换着用;口语里 like / such as 最自然;take … for example 把例子拎出来强调;say 是“比如说”。
⚠️ such as 后面直接接名词(sports such as football);for example 可以单独成句。
excited(兴奋、期待)
基础 really looking forward to it ● (很期待)
"I can't wait for the trip — I'm really looking forward to it, the whole family is thrilled ."
★ 为什么: can't wait = 等不及(最口语);looking forward to + 名词 / doing = 期待;thrilled 偏“特别激动开心”。
⚠️ excited about sth(不是书面的 excited for);looking forward to 后接名词或 doing(to going,不是 to go)。
good-looking(好看 / 外貌)

进阶 on the short side ◐ (偏矮,委婉)
"She's really attractive — slim , always in good shape , with a lovely smile."
说体型/身高礼貌为上:a bit heavy 比 fat 客气得多,on the short side 比 short 客气得多。
⚠️ 说胖用 a bit heavy / plump,别直接说 fat(偏冒犯);说矮用 on the short side,别单说 short(偏直接);gorgeous / stunning 用一次就够。
about / around(大约、大概)

"It took around two hours — well, two hours give or take , something like that."
★ 为什么: around / roughly 等于 about,换着用;or so 放数字后面(ten minutes or so);give or take = 上下浮动;说不准时这些比反复 about 自然多了。
⚠️ or so 放在数字后面(an hour or so);别一句里堆三个近似词。
almost / nearly(几乎)
"I've nearly finished — practically done, just one small part left."
★ 为什么: nearly = almost,最常换;practically = “几乎可以说就是”(practically empty);just about = 差一点点就到。
more and more(越来越)
老说 more and more 会单调,换 increasingly / a growing number of 更有层次。

★ 为什么: increasingly 后接形容词 / 动词(increasingly popular);a growing number of 后接名词(人 / 事);on the rise = 呈上升趋势。
⚠️ a growing number of

⚠️ terrified / petrified 已经很强,前面别再加 very;scared of sth(不是 scared to sth)。

进阶 a real sense of achievement ● (满满的成就感)
"I'm really proud of finishing the race — it gave me a real sense of achievement ."
★ 为什么: proud of + 名词 / doing;想说得有内容,加一句 a real sense of achievement(成就感)比单一个 proud 更打动人。
⚠️ proud of doing(proud of finishing),不是 proud to finishing。
satisfied(满意、满足)

★ 为什么: my folks 很口语地指“家里人”;immediate / extended family 分直系和远亲;hit it off = 第一次见就投缘;acquaintance 是“认识但不熟”,比 friend 远一层。
